Last night we went to the Royal Albert Hall in London to see Sally's cousin sing at a charity concert. 1500 voices with a brass band. Excellent!

Prior to that we wandered around the city visiting the Spitalfields and Borough markets. I don't think we've ever encountered so much good food in one place before as we did at the Borough markets. So. Much. Cheese.

First night of the Manchester German Christmas markets. We kind of bah humbuged out of them last year but with the turning of the season and all we're more into it this year.

Warm spiced wine with hotdogs and tat. Love it.

"Mr Smith's Dream"

The days are getting dark. There are some back streets I walk down going home from work and I discovered this little random lit-up sculpture thing in a wall. Must have passed it hundreds of times over the last year.

We're flying to NZ today. Six weeks of summer!

Yesterday we rented a car and took our possessions to a self storage place in Stockport. This morning is final cleaning of the apartment and packing.

Train to London and then on to Heathrow flying out at 20:40 and arriving in Auckland via Hong Kong at 09:30 on Monday.

Today we took a train to Buxton and cycled back to Disley on the national cycleway route 68. 21km in a little under three hours. Lunch at the Ram's Head.

Sally was reasonably excited.

Today we're visiting Shrewsbury. Lovely little town.

After lunch we're going to do a walking tour where I'm sure we'll learn the unsurprising origins of Grope Lane.
